Monica Steele graduated from One Spirit Interfaith Seminary in NYC and was ordained an Interfaith Minister June, 2014. She earned her Master’s in Choral Conducting and Fine Arts Education Administration from St. Mary’s College in Winona, Minnesota with choral studies at the New England Conservatory and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.
Previously from Massachusetts she worked for 14 years as Choral Director and Fine Arts Director of the Ipswich Public Schools. She was Coordinator of Music for Campus Ministry at Merrimack College, founding Director of the Merrimack College Chorale and Director of Music Ministry at St. Augustine Parish from 2006 to 2009. She moved to Tacoma to work at St Leo’s Parish as Pastoral Assistant for Music and Liturgy for four years before going to work at First Christian Church Tacoma as Minister of Music and Spirituality in 2014-2015
She has been with the Treacy Levine center for 4 years, acting on the board as treasurer, president and now working as Transitional Coordinator.
Monica is married to Jeffry Steele, classical guitarist, composer/arranger, music teacher, and mental health counselor. They live in Tacoma and on Orcas Island and have two grown sons, Nathaniel and Noah. They enjoy the outdoors, swimming, hiking, and dancing.
